Pay Rate Management & Award Compliance
Configure base pay rates, age-based bands, and penalty rates for weekends and public holidays — so roster cost estimates are always accurate.
Setting up pay rates
Follow these steps to configure pay rates so your roster cost estimates and timesheets are always accurate.
Set up base pay rates
Navigate to Settings then Pay Rates. For each role in your business, enter the standard hourly base rate. This is the rate that applies to regular weekday shifts. You can update rates at any time and changes will apply to future shifts.
Configure age-based pay bands
If your awards require different rates by age, set up age bands. Define age brackets (e.g. under 18, 18–20, 21+) and Rundeck will automatically apply the correct rate based on each staff member's date of birth.
Add penalty rates for weekends and public holidays
Define penalty rate multipliers for Saturday, Sunday, and public holiday shifts. Enter the multiplier (e.g. 1.25x for Saturday, 1.5x for Sunday, 2x for public holidays) and Rundeck calculates the actual rate automatically.
Link rates to roles
Each pay rate is linked to a role. When you assign a staff member to a role, they automatically inherit the correct pay rate. If someone works multiple roles, the rate for the role assigned to each specific shift is used.
Review rates on the roster
Once rates are configured, your roster will show live cost estimates. As you add and adjust shifts, the total labour cost updates in real time — broken down by day, by role, and with penalty rates included.
