Setting up and logging temperature checks

Keep your kitchen compliant with scheduled temperature checks, automated alerts, and audit-ready reports.

1

Set up temperature check points

Navigate to Food Safety from your dashboard. Add each piece of equipment that needs temperature monitoring — fridges, freezers, hot holds, and display units. Define the acceptable temperature range for each.

Staff logs temperatures at scheduled intervals

When a temperature check is due, staff see it in their task list. They read the thermometer, enter the value, and submit. The app validates the reading against the acceptable range in real time.

If a reading falls outside the acceptable range, it's immediately flagged. The staff member is prompted to add a corrective action (e.g. 'adjusted thermostat'), and the manager is notified.

Tips

Get the most from food safety logs

Stay compliant and catch issues before they become problems.

Set check reminders
Enable push reminders so staff never miss a scheduled check. A gentle nudge at the right time prevents compliance gaps.
🌡️
Calibrate thermometers
Remind your team to calibrate thermometers regularly. An inaccurate reading is worse than a missed one — it gives false confidence.
📋
Require corrective actions
When a reading is out of range, always require a corrective action note. This builds a proper audit trail for inspectors.
📊
Review trends weekly
Check the compliance dashboard every Monday. Spot equipment that drifts out of range frequently — it may need servicing.
🏷️
Label equipment clearly
Make sure each fridge, freezer, and hot hold is clearly labelled so staff log readings against the correct check point.
📁
Export before inspections
Before a health inspection, export your temperature logs for the relevant period. Rundeck formats them ready for auditors.
